Ten years ago, The Beekman opened its doors, beginning what has been a remarkable journey.
From the earliest days of the building’s restoration to the hotel we know today, our story has always been rooted in a profound sense of place—one shaped by extraordinary architecture, rich history and, most importantly, the people who have brought it to life.
As we approached our 10th anniversary, it was important that our celebration reflected all those who have been part of that story. Our guests, our colleagues, our culinary and neighborhood partners, and the Lower Manhattan community have each played a role in making The Beekman what it is today. A milestone like this belongs to us all.
Celebrating Our Community
Our anniversary celebration began by sharing the experience with those who have supported us along the way.
Through our social media anniversary giveaway, we celebrated not only The Beekman and our culinary partners, but also the neighborhood we are proud to call home. One winner and a guest joined us for an unforgettable anniversary weekend, experiencing a stay in the Thompson Suite, dining throughout the hotel and enjoying special gifts from our Lower Manhattan neighbors at Westfield World Trade Center and Printemps New York.
It was our way of celebrating the many pieces of the neighborhood that have become part of The Beekman experience.
Ten Years, Told Through Some of the People Who Shaped It
In the weeks leading up to our anniversary, we looked back at our first decade through a special docuseries featuring some of the people who helped shape our story.
We began with our visionary — Allen Gross, the person who walked through the doors of a remarkable but long-dormant building and imagined what it could become.
Jessica Lappin, President of the Alliance for Downtown New York, reflected on The Beekman’s place within the transformation of Lower Manhattan. Award-winning chefs Tom Colicchio and Daniel Boulud took us through the culinary journey that has become such an important part of the hotel, while designer Martin Brudnizki reminded us of something we have always believed: this building has a voice of its own.
Long-standing colleagues who have been with us since opening day shared memories of walking into The Beekman for the first time and reflected on the relationships and experiences that have made these ten years so meaningful.
To close the series, Jacqui Gifford, Editor-in-Chief of Travel + Leisure, joined us to reflect on the evolution of travel and how The Beekman has evolved alongside it—from being recognized shortly after opening to the hotel it has become a decade later.

Each shared story has become part of our collective memory.
Ten years ago, we opened our doors to New York – and really the world. Since then, countless guests have walked through them. Colleagues have made this building their second home. Chefs, artists, designers and partners have added their own chapters. And Lower Manhattan has continued to evolve around us. The Beekman has always been our love letter to New York. Ten years later, that love story continues.
