Things to Do in NYC This Spring

The hint of warmer temperatures and the blossoming of spring blooms fills us with excitement, as we replace our winter wear with lighter spring layers. We remain just as thrilled to explore the seasonal activities our Concierge team has recommended for us this season.

EXPLORE GOVERNORS ISLAND

Located in the heart of New York Harbor, Governors Island is a 172-acre island that is only a ferry ride away from Manhattan. While the island is open all year round, it really starts to come to life in the spring as Liggett Terrance begins to bloom. The season begins with fun events such as the Governor Island Walking Tour and the NYC Runs Spring Fling 5k & 10K. There is also a fun Easter egg hunt in April to celebrate the holiday. Don’t forget to check out the public art on display around the island in various mediums.

Perelman Performing Arts Center (PAC)

Now thru March 31st, 2024, enjoy Laurence Fishburne’s legendary storytelling skills at PAC in his new one-man show “Like They Do in The Movies”.

GRAND BANKS- Floating Oyster Bar

Enjoy sustainably harvested oysters, nautically inspired cocktails and seafood on a docked boat. This floating oyster bar opens Mid-April and is only a few minutes away from the Beekman. Reservations recommended for this seasonal treasure!

BROOKLYN BOTANICAL GARDENS- CHERRY BLOSSOMS in Bloom

Take a stroll through the Japanese Cherry Blossom Orchard, and take in the pop of beauty that has blossomed all around us.

FRIEZE ART SHOW (Hudson Yards)

One of the world’s most renowned international art fairs, Art Frieze, will return to The Shed this May featuring 60 galleries spanning 25 countries. Many renowned New York-based galleries will be participating this year (including Pace Gallery and David Zwirner to name a few), with many international ones too. There’s also set to be a Focus section, dedicated to solo presentations of emerging and lesser-known artist.

“The Great Gatsby” on Broadway

The Great Gatsby will debut on Broadway this spring with it’s opening night set for April 25th at the Broadway Theatre. Tony award-nominated actors Jeremy Jordan and Eva Noblezada will play the roles of, respectively, Jay Gatsby and Daisy Buchanan.

NEW YORK CITY BALLET

The spring season of the NYC Ballet begins on April 23rd and lasts through June 2nd. The highly anticipated show this year will feature the works of Stravinsky and Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

NEW YORK BOTANICAL GARDENS- THE ORCHID SHOW (Bronx)

The Orchid Show is major this season! Orchids and fashion combine in this dazzling exhibit long known for bringing the catwalk to the Enid A. Haupt Conservatory. Celebrate your love for fashion and orchids now thru April 12th, 2024.
