The Beekman Art Collection features over 60 original paintings, photographs, prints, works on paper, and sculptures by nearly twenty known and emerging international and American artists, many from the Manhattan's downtown area. The collection playfully references the many veils of rich and distinctive history inherent in The Beekman hotel, its historic site, and its local environment. Some ideas represented through the artwork are the early lush natural landscape of lower Manhattan and its parks and waterways, the site's rich literary history when it housed the Clinton Hall, "Newspaper Row" and was the host of many famed Romantic Period writers, and to the fertile Industrialist era when the building was erected (1883, the year the Brooklyn Bridge was opened).

"The collection's theme is inspired by the spirit of the 19th century writers like Poe, who frequented the Mercantile Library Association when it was located in the Clinton Hall and the building's beautiful Queen Anne architecture, and is infused with a sense of magical realism that alludes to the City Hall Park and the East River." says Gass.
